Course:
We are very excited to have been invited to hold our first Trioba race in a beautiful new location. This area is stunning and is home to Washington’s newest wilderness area, Wild Sky.

Racers will see peaks all around them including Mt. Persis, Index, Baring, Gunn, and others. Participants should come prepared to ride roads and single-track, trek on roads, trails and through the forest, and rafting in big water. This will be a classic adventure race with all checkpoints obtained in sequential order. The course will consist of 20-30 miles of mountain biking, 10-15 miles of trekking, and 5-10 miles of white water rafting. The course will be completely navigation based, and teams should be proficient with using a map and compass in order to finish the course. This area is an adventure racer's paradise, and you will not want to miss it!
The rafting section will be lead by professional guides provided by the Outdoor Adventure Center. No experience or gear is necessary. May 30th is typically the biggest water weekend of the season. While we can’t guarantee water levels, we have made every effort to make this an unforgettable experience. We are not aware of any other race in North America that includes significant whitewater rafting. Like other service industries, whitewater guides compensation includes tips. If you have a great experience or have special requests for your guides (like beating the team ahead of you or hitting some big water), please consider tipping your guide.

While we are making every effort to provide every team their own raft, teams of less than 4 and teams later in the race may be combined with other teams for the rafting section.
If you have any questions please post them to the PNWAR forum under the Trioba heading so that all teams can benefit and questions to us are minimized.
Participant Responsibility Model:
TRIOBA endorses the Participant Responsibility Model wherein participants take primary responsibility for their own safety. Participants are encouraged to acquire the skills and experience required to safely participate in all of the various activities that can be part of adventure racing. Participants are expected to be aware of their own limitations and exercise good judgment while still challenging themselves. Race Directors will strive to provide participants with adequate information regarding the activities involved in its events, while still retaining as much of the mystery and "adventure" that defines adventure racing.
The gear list should NOT be considered all that is necessary to safely participate in our events. You are required to make a personal assessment of your abilities and requirements for each event. You should carry with you all the gear that you believe is necessary to safely complete the event.

The race is open to 2, 3 and 4 person teams. Only 4 person coed teams will be considered a premier category and eligible for awards/prizing. If you need help putting together a team try the Team Finder at the PNWAR forum.

Support Crews:
The race will not require a support crew, and no teams will be allowed to receive support from any person not racing. However, friends and family and any other spectators are encouraged to attend the race, and there will be ample opportunities for these people to watch the race. If friends and family would like to be more involved than a spectator, we are always looking for more volunteers for the event.
Volunteers:
Volunteering is an excellent way to get the feel and experience of an adventure race if you are unsure if you would like to participate. Also, friends and family of racers that are planning on coming to the race are encouraged to volunteer. Adventure racing would not be possible without the help of volunteers, and Trioba is currently looking for outdoor-minded volunteers that are willing to help with the race! All volunteers that can help for the duration of the race will receive a certificate for 50% off any Trioba event and food after the race
There will be a pre-race volunteer meeting after the racer's pre-race meeting, around 7:00AM on Saturday morning. If you would like to be a part of this exciting new event, please contact Trioba at volunteer@trioba.com
Rules:
The Rules for the Trioba Wild Sky Sprint Adventure Race are intended to maximize the safety and enjoyment of all participants. Please review and follow the rules!
